Many people were underwhelmed by the reveals, as a whole. A number of people expressed being underwhelmed on this very thread. I even discussed with an arker in PM being underwhelmed after he shared that he was underwhelmed. So when a few of those underwhelmed individuals complain about the BP wave also underwhelming them, what's the big deal?

Some people thought the Dr Strange wave sucked (too many Stranges) - I liked it. Some people thought the Giantman/Antman wave sucked (Nick Fury, Red Guardian, and cooler than expected Nuke?) - go figure, I liked it. From all that I've seen, namely Black Bolt and Namor, I'm also going to like this BP wave, despite some thinking it sucked, based solely on the virtue that those two characters make it suck less than most of the other stuff shown at the con (IMO).

I caution people to avoid 'projecting' what they think others are upset with before exploring what those other people are actually upset with. For those unaware of the psychological definition of projection; look it up, learning shit is cool contrary to popular beliefs. For those that are lazy and would rather be told; the phenomenon is essentially a defense mechanism in which someone projects their own beliefs/ideas/traits onto someone else, when in reality, this is a fallacy.

FYI: my personal 'underwhelmed opinion' following the con, outside of no Surfer (or Blue Marvel WTF?), was due to the figs looking a bit cheap on second glance. It was akin to sobering up and seeing that lady you were pushin' up on, in better light and sans beer goggles...I mean, really, I'd thrown back a couple last night, but that defenders set is trash!

Well said.

Upon looking at the panel again, I think people are taking the lackluster reveal of Black Bolt the wrong way. It's not a knock on the character or the toy, and lots of people want a chance to get a new Black Bolt and will be excited. But at that panel people were all hyped for new and exciting never before seen figures, especially after building it up with those nice Entertainment Weekly photos from the Black Panther movie. But then, Hasbro followed it up with a picture of the new Black Bolt. And then another Namor. And then...nothing. They didn't even show off the actual Black Panther figure of all things. It was a huge presentation fail on Hasbro's part, and it killed the crowd.

Also I showed that Defenders box set to my wife last night, she totally said exactly what you said. At first I wanted to defend the set, but looking at it again, Hasbro really phoned it in here to make a cheap figure set in a fancy box for Amazon.
