"Hell... it's about time."
I know that quote is most associated with Tychus but technically Jim does wind up saying it.
My NECA HotS Raynor that I had on pre-order with BBTS arrived today. Thankfully BBTS does a great job of wrapping the packaging in bubble-wrap because even though the shipping box was marked with a fragile sticker it looked like it had been delivered by Ace Ventura. Every side of the box was dented or squished in some form. What the hell Fedex? Thankfully like I said the contents where safely preserved.
This figure came out pretty awesome which just further highlights what a damn shame it is that the line is ending. While I still sulk and whine about how we didn't get Kerrigan or one of the Protoss I will say that I'm very glad to see Raynor get a figure. Jim Raynor is definitely one of my all-time favorite heroes of video games and I think his Starcraft 2 design is great so I was gonna get this anyway but it definitely doesn't disappoint on its own merits. The articulation is pretty comparable to the way NECA did their better Pacific Rim Jaegers which is fitting since Jim here sorta looks like a Jaeger. The shoulders are on ball-hinges, the biceps swivel, elbows are hinged, the forearms swivel, and then the hands are on ball joints with nice range. His visor does flip up and down easily and then his head is articulated but getting use out of this is a little tricky thanks to the dome. The torso is ball jointed, hips are on ball-hinges, upper thighs swivel, hinged knees, and then surprisingly the toes and heels are on separate ball joints which all work well. The sculpt is the typical great work I'd expect from NECA and then the paint apps are all pretty nicely done. I especially like the way they nailed the snake skeleton deco on his shoulder and the skull on his visor looks fantastic. He stands at pretty much 7" flat at full height plus he's bulky by design and he holds the rifle (which is also pretty big) well in his right hand though it was a little tough getting him to get a hold of it the first time but he can then support the end in his left hand for a firing pose. Definitely happy to have this.
