Well, a knock off is taking something and flat out copying it... sometimes they make it bigger or smaller, but the work is derivative of something else. A customized ko is when you take something as a base design, in this case voyager Hound, and resculpt a bunch of parts, slightly re-engineer, as well as resize. It's not wholly original, and you can plainly see much of the original Hasbro design is still there, but the gaps are filled, the belly is added, and the wheel feet have been re-molded. The reason reviewers don't say anything is because they don't like to say KO. They don't want to admit something is a knock off, due to the stigma associated with the term. Same thing with the term "3rd Party"... all that really means is a product not made by the original, official rights owner. It can be official or unofficial. TECHNICALLY all KO product is third party, but not all 3rd Party is a KO.
There are a LOT of transformers collectors, especially in forums, that get their panties in a wad if you call Fanstoys KO product, or weijiang 3rd Party, even though at technical legal definitions, both are true... so I try to be as charitable as possible, to avoid offending any snowflakes lurking.
