Wow. The naive optimism of some toy collectors never ceases to amaze me.
Mattel has said DCIH is dead just about every way they can say it without just flat out saying "DCIH is dead" (which they will never do so that that small sliver of collectors who will "never give up hope" still cling to it). They've just done it in corporatespeak and in the typical Mattel manner of passing the blame to anyone but themselves.
"It's not that we created a sub-par line, it's that the retailers wouldn't buy it!"
I'm sure Mattel still has an interest in marketing 3.75 inch DC figures, but as it stands right now, DCIH has failed and they'll have to try something new either with the branding or the design of the figures.
Seriously. DCIH is about as dead as a toy line gets. If it returns, it will functionally be as a new line altogether (unless they just recycle the old figures and/or the Target scenario suggested above happens, which I kind of doubt). It might share the same name, but it won't be the same line. Hopefully, it'll be a better one.
Oh, and the Deathstroke wave popping up at Wal-Marts wasn't so much a "reorder" as Wal Mart and Target finally hitting that portion of their backstock after clearing out the Alexander Luthors that were clogging their pegs prior to that. Those figures were probably ordered 6 months or more before they hit shelves. Not some "refresh for the holiday season."
