The reason I say this is that while the newer characters solo films are popular, I wonder how audiences will react to group movies that do not have the MCU tentpole characters in them - assuming that Thor, Captain America and Iron Man are not serving/do not make it out after Avengers 4. The question is will the market interest be sustained in seeing a movie of second stringers? It very well might, but I think it's also possible it may not.
This is exactly why the success of Black Panther is so big. I’ve studied this universe since the summer of 2007. Marvel Studios built up Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America. Those were B list characters who the general audience had no clue who they were, now they are a multi billion dollar franchise. Now you build up Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Captain Marvel, and of yeah you still have the Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man. Keep giving us good films with characters that we care about and the success will continue.
