Marvel wasnt purchased by Disney in 2009. The initial conversations were made, but the deal didnt happen untill january 2010. Close but no cigar.
Hasbro also makes toys for Disney. Their products are featured in the Toy Story films, and even does special products for Walt Disney World.
Lastly, Marvel may be a part of Disney, but its its own company. Theres still a high chance that Hasbro will continue to be Marvel's company of choice beyond 2017.
Here, here. Add to that the fact that Hasbro has a proven track record handling the Marvel product. My money is on Disney/Marvel keeping the license at Hasbro. It makes much more sense from a business standpoint. Disney/Marvel does not have to invest in tooling all new product and they get paid by Hasbro to use their property. Also, since Hasbro and Marvel already have a really good working relationship it seems that it would be more trouble to take the license somewhere else and start all over again. There is still quite a bit of time before the contract is up, so who knows what will happen between now and then, but I bet Hasbro keeps the license.
