^^BTW Nite, you of all people HAD to be happy that Whizzer showed up in the new season of Jessica Jones huh?...

If Nite is giving his review...I really need to finish my own. I covered Prowler, Spider-Woman and Spider-Punk. Moving on...

Mysterio: Here's a well done version of this character, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much as I still think the ToyBiz version holds up pretty well. I like what Hasbro ave us, as I really appreciate the fact that they actually sculpted the lines into his suit (as opposed to painting them on like they did with Shocker) and the use of greens are well done. I dig the effects as well, but I'm not a huge fan of the snake/skull head underneath (I got the white version.) I also would have liked to see a bit more paint, as he feels unfinished without it. This guy is dying for a black wash, as well as a bit of frosting on the inside of the helmet to better conceal the monstrous head.

Lasher: I have been extremely vocal in wanting the Life Foundation symbiotes, and it appears that Hasbro is finally going to give them to us. Lasher was one of my favorite figures in this wave, although I'm a bit biased in saying so. I love the paintwork, as well as the smooth finish to the figure. The reuse of the tentacles from Superior Venom was pretty well done as well, although I really wish some bendy wires would have been incorporated. I also wish that the figure would have been done on the Bucky Cap or Spider-UK body, as I feel the Pizza/Superior Venom body is just too small for him. I also wish the hands would have had a more claw like appearance. Prowler's hands would have worked MUCH better than the standard claw hands he ended up receiving. Despite these gripes, I'm really glad to have this guy. I hope that Hasbro goes all the way and gives us the rest of the Life Foundation team after we get Scream in the upcoming Venom wave.

Spider-Man Noir: This one is a weird one, not because I was excited to receive the character, but more that I was excited by the customization possibilities he represents. With the Starlord/Aim Soldier body, as well as that black trenchcoat, what we have here is a near perfect opportunity to update A LOT of characters that were done on that crappy Nick Fury body. The fact that it's a flat black body with almost no paint BEGS for it to be customized. Red Skull, Nick Fury, Blade...even DC's Red Hood can all be easily done thanks to this great buck that has nearly none of the issues that shitty Nick Fury body did. I'm gonna need four or five of him as of this writing. As for the figure itself, it's really well done, thanks to the superior mold it's on. My gripes are super minimal...I would have liked for them to include the spider logo on the back of his under-jacket, and I feel the head is a little bit oversized. Also, the laser pistols...REALLY? You have both a revolver and a Thompson mold Hasbro. Even reusing those Luger pistols would have made more sense. What's the problem...or the excuse? Thank goodness I had extra of both lying around. It improves the figure mounds...

Gwenpool: Controversial statement coming...hands down my favorite figure in the wave, and I know NOTHING bout this character, other than the fact that she is pretty polarizing for various reasons. It's the little details that do it for me though. Both heads are great, well painted and fun. The cell phone accessory, while tiny, is awesome, and I love that it fits in her belt. The penguin backpack is awesome, as well as the additional hands. I loved her sneakers (we now have everything we need for Colleen Wing!) and the colors really pop. The figure screams with personality, and although again, I know nothing bout her, I found myself coming back to her over and over again to goof off with. My only gripes were the lack of some sort of guns (the Punisher's white shotgun works perfectly though, as does any of the MP5 types) and it appears my figure might have two right thighs. An unmasked head sculpt would have been super appreciated as well. Gwenpool is actually a really pretty character from what I have seen in the comics, so it would have been nice to see an unmasked, anime inspired head sculpt for the character like she is drawn in the books. I'm hoping that the Toybox Black Widow figure with some paint might work, but if not, I'm gonna be a little bummed we didn't get one.

Finally, that brings me to Lizard...

Lizard: Another character I didn't think we needed, because I'm very partial to the Fearsome Foes boxset version, however, Hasbro knocked it out of the park. Yes I know he's hunched over. Yes, the leg articulation leaves a bit to be desired. Yes the tail articulation is a bit wonky, and the long tongue is a bit overdone. Yet what I love, is the huge, dinosaurian look of him. The skin is well sculpted, painted, and washed. The arms have double jointed elbows, which is uncommon for larger BAF figures. The head sculpt is terrifying, and the look is also borrowed from one of my favorite Lizard stories of all time, "Torment." Now only if Hasbro one day would give us a Calypso figure, all will be right with the world.
