It just goes to show how a bad director can derail even the most popular character and a good movie can uplift a lesser known character to the mainstream. Zack Snyder is overrated and it's his fault he was replaced on Justice League. Superman's popularity has taken a hit because he hasn't had a unanimously-liked movie since Superman II. III and IV were outrageously bad, while Superman Returns wasn't good enough to return Superman to the limelight and the DCEU films have been made by a director with a fairly poor track record at the box office to start with. I mean, what does he have? A Dawn of the Dead remake and 300? How on Earth did WB think he was the right guy to revitalize Superman and start a DC shared universe?
