There's only 2 reasons they would use it here. Because of the metal parts, (which maybe work better with polystone), or to have a fancy word in the description to raise the price. Honestly, there's not even a reason to use real metal on the figure. That's just another way to spend a little bit of extra money on the figure so they could charge a LOT more.
If they kept this the same materials as all the rest of their figures, but added the LED's, and made it an inch taller, they'd probably charge $110. Which is still WAY too high for this, but that's how they roll. I truly do believe they are testing the limits of what their fans will shell out. Absolutely expect another big "Deluxe" figure with unnecessary bells and whistles to be around the $250 mark.
I think you're pretty right on the money. The only way I'd spend this kinda money, or more (like $250 as you said) would be if it were the right character and right accessories. Like if they did the Rocketeer, and he came with all sorts of accessories and outfit changes or something special, I'd possibly bite. But I struggle paying $250 for Hot Toys at times, so $180 or more on a 6" figure, it better come with some autographed shit or something that makes it rare or special.
