Oh, okay. I think we're a bit mixed up here. My metaphor was about how a TV is technically a commodity for personal entertainment, but that's seen as okay, but if you were to spend the amount of a TV costs on a ton of figures(over time, granted), that's seen as a waste of money.

It's like people calling let's plays dumb because you're watching someone else play a game, but then they'll turn on the TV and watch a football game. It's basically the same principle, but one is more socially acceptable than the other for some reason.
