Some people (like myself) grew up with brown and tan Wolverine and (again, like myself) absolutely hate the yellow and blue. It might be the "original" outfit, but the brown and tan looked like something that could be made out of leather and looked more "masculine" and thus more fitting for the character.

In my opinion, anyway.

(Plus the X-Men Wave 1 one is, I think, the first one that is height-accurate for the scale. Wolverine is short.)
