If the can wasn't shaving cream and was just some special sci-fi looking cylinder that had no logo on it would that make it better? The tubes definitely aren't the same type of tubes they collect blood in, not that I've ever done. The embryo vials are much smaller.
Well, with the saber hilt, I think the reason why it would stand out is that it does not exist in real life, hence there is a uniqueness to it. So it seems valuable from the perspective of it representing in appearance, what the concept art dictates for its appearance.
You could then say that there isn't a can in real life with a hidden compartment for Dino vials. But that seems more on the level of functionality than appearance. In terms of appearances, you are looking at something that you could easily purchase.
I suppose you could say that your focus is actually on the appearance of the vials and its housing. Only issue is that such form of housing is also not that uncommon, though perhaps hard to purchase outside of a laboratory setting, and the cost of the real thing could actually be much more expensive. So yes, I stand corrected that if one really wants to have that appearance of the vials + housing captured, then it does stand out in that sense

I think I see where you are coming from. I guess its a matter of how we enjoy movies too. For me, I tend to remember movies in terms of characters more than what they use. So it seems that I am one of those persons who would buy a Batman figure than spend money buying his utility belt.
But now in discussing this with you, I have come to realize there are others (like yourself) who enjoy the movie in terms of the gadgetry as well. I can now see how in such a scenario, how one would legitimately want to recreate the appearance of that gadget itself.
