To me, the peak of the franchise is The Winter Soldier. No other movie outside of Black Panther has come close to capturing the story telling, the tone, and excitement The Winter Soldier featured. Even Spider-Man Homecoming and Infinity War.

However, if you just mean a general peak, as in where the quality is and how much money it makes, then it is still reaching for the top. There's been a few downward climbs, but the summit continues to rise so the franchise has to climb back upward again.

Frankly, I don't see why people are constantly harping on these movies. If you are tired of them, or don't like them, you simply don't have to go see them. I would rather go see the next MCU film than another generic no name action movie with a Mary Sue character that is supposed to be human. Or hell, when the MCU films cover other generes, it does it better than most genre films.

For example, I just watched a movie called Red Sparrow last night which is hands down one of the worst spy thriller movies of all time, if not the worst (and the worst movie of 2018). They forgot to put the espionage and suspense in the film. Black Panther did the spy thriller theme so much better and it's considered a super hero film.

The "superhero" genre is so broad that it can encompass a wide variety of tones and styles. That's how we can end up with a gritty crime drama like The Punisher and then go onto a sci-fi comedy with Guardians of the Galaxy. Because functionally speaking, there's no difference between something like The Winter Soldier and something like Mission Impossible....the only difference is the main protagonist is Captain America.

I really don't get how people can say they are sick of superhero movies but still tune in for the latest non-superhero action movie, unless they're referring specifically to the hype surrounding. Because how would something John Wick be made any worse if John Wick happened to be a comic book character?
Both of you have my respect. Very well thought out point of views. Marvel Studios set out to tell a grand story, and has done so with different types of films in 10 years. It's because of their quality of filmmaking that I am able to display my own Infinity War...
