My SPIDRP wave arrived earlier this week, and after having some time to finally mess around with them a bit...here's some thoughts.

Doc Ock: Hasbro really did a great job with this update, though it still falls short to the Toybiz version. Still, the figure has an excellent sculpt, with some good, clean (if minimal) paint work. I'm really glad that the eyes were finished under the glasses, preventing us from having another "Bebop" (the movie Bebop figure did not have his eyes painted in under the glasses), and the tentacles, despite their lack of bendy wires, are nicely sculpted. My only gripes is that I feel the feet are a tad oversized, and I'm a little bummed I can't use the tentacles from my Movie Doc Ock with him due to the peg on them being a bit large. Still a cool fig despite it not being able to eclipse the Toybiz version, and I'm glad to have it.

Scarlet Spider (Kaine): Ths is a re-do that I didn't think we needed, as I still love the original figure, however I was a lot more impressed with it than I thought I would be. It might actually be my favorite figure in the wave honestly. The newer body mold being used here is nice (which feels strange, considering it's still a Spidey clone,) and I like the stinger hands. The custom hands that I made for the previous Scarlett Spider work on this one as well, giving it even more options. The paints on mine were really crisp, and there were no QC issues to speak of. My only gripes come in the articulation, the original Scarlett Spider had it better at the hips. I am also not a fan of the squinting, Deadpool-esque look on the mask. I may end up scrapping my older figure by swapping the head, which is something I tend not to do, but it's the only way I can see this figure getting any better than it already is.

Elektra: Another LONG overdue re-make, and another ninja gal. What is that, our third in a row? Times are good indeed. Paints and QC here were nearly perfect, so I won't spend too much time with talking about Elektra...all I'll say is that she destroys all of the previous versions before it in every way, so she's a must buy if you don't have it. My only gripe is that I wish Hasbro would develop a set of tabi booted feet for the ninja characters. They did this with Okoye and MCU Black Panther, and those were one time uses. Why couldn't they just develop them for the comic based characters? Perhaps they will once they get around to the rumored Hand Ninjas.

Also, the Elodie Yung headsculpt from the Netflix Elektra fits perfectly on the body. The skin tone is slightly different, but it's not distracting, so that's a display option as well should you'd like...

Cloak: Talk about getting this figure out on the cheap, as it has no paint apps outside the headsculpt and cloak itself. Still, what paint is there is very well done, and I like the semi translucent hands. Being able to remove the head, and stand it on top of the Cloak makes for some neat pic opportunities as well, although the cloak is also my biggest gripe. I really wish that a soft goods version was included with it, especially if it had a weighted bendy wire inside of it. This really could have made the figure stand out...but as it is, it's pretty good, and I really like the character as well. I've waited a hell of a long time to have him in my Legends collection, and I'm glad Hasbro finally gave him to us.

Dagger: I was really worried about this figure when the first images surfaced of it, but having it in hand, I'm mostly pleased. Yes, the cross on her costume is placed a bit high, but at least Hasbro used the right upper torso with the "cone" breasts, so it doesn't make that issue any worse. I really like the white plastic that was used on the figure, and the headsculpt on mine had some really crisp paints with a great wash over the blonde hair. If I had to pick a gripe with the figure, it's that the eyes seem to be spaced a little far apart, and I SWEAR, I've seen this headsculpt before (Mockingbird maybe?) The energy effect is a bit tricky to figure out as well, but it's doable if you're willing to get creative with it. I'm glad they decided to include it. Again, not perfect, but I really dig this figure, and I'm glad to finally have Cloak and Dagger in my collection, as they have long been favorites of mine.

Daredevil: I like the costume, though I'm not a fan of the figure. I really wish they would have went with the body that Kaine was placed on, as he could really use some butterfly joints. The paint on his face also seemed a bit muddy and unrefined, making it hard to see the features like his lips. A wash would help greatly. I like the boots, and the billy cane accessory is cool, but fundamentally speaking, this is the weakest figure in the wave...next to....

(House of M) Spider-Man: I'll just put this here...

If I have to say something about it...it's another Pizza Spidey, with a terrible deco (and a lack of a belt) that makes it feel like an incomplete figure. We get a webline, but for some reason, no interchangeable hands for him to hold it with, which isn't too big of a deal since the hands from my older Spideys work with it. There's another problem though in that the blues are completely different as is the web patterns on his hands! I don't usually mind filler figures in a wave, but not when they are done this poorly. Moving along.

SP4DRP (Or SP//dr or whatever he's called...): Hasbro REALLY went deep down the rabbit hole for this guy. I had never even heard of him until he was announced. Anyways...I'll make it quick. It's okay as far as a BAF goes, as it has a good size, mostly clean paints and a nice, unique sculpt. On the bad side, with a figure this big, there's no excuse why it couldn't be more articulated. It makes good use of what it has, but it could really use a thigh cut, ankle & calf rotation, and proper ball jointed shoulders. Because of this, it ends up feeling more like a throwback to McFarlane's manga Spawn robot lines, than it does a Marvel Legends. Also, I understand there is a little girl who pilots this thing, so would it have not hurt Hasbro to at least give us her as well as part of the BAF? They gave us friggen Spider-Ham at 20 bucks a clip...the least they could have done was include SPIDRP's pilot for free. The character choice doesn't help it either, as I have little to no attachment to it, making this the weakest BAF we've received in my eyes since Warlock.
