I have logged a few hours, not as many as I'd like because I keep getting distracted by either the photo mode, the astonishingly good web swinging, or getting sidetracked to heave drug dealers off tall buildings.
People are going to liken it to a Marvel/Insomniac analog of the Arkham series, and I will say that this compares very favorably. The tone is more fun. The combat is deep, looks incredible, and when Spidey leaps to throw a right hook finisher or flying knee oh man does it feel good. Using your environment as a weapon isn't new to gaming, but the way you hammer the crap out of bad guys with pieces of debris you just webbed up feels terrific. The combat looks as good as it plays, Spider-Man is appropriately nimble and has a pretty deep arsenal of moves. Different kinds of tech add variety to the way you take on encounters. You spend time as regular old Peter Parker too, dealing with his problems. There is a *lot* of story the game wants to tell you, and they take their time to convey it. Between Miles and MJ and the multitude of characters from the books they throw in there, you get some very nice quality time with them. The digital acting is on par with Detroit: Become Human, I think. Meaning it's among the best, possibly the very best until Cyberpunk comes out. The characters think and pause to consider, their expressions perfectly convey the weighty, dramatic or light-hearted moments with utter sincerity. A lot of care was put into making this game.

As far as the alternate suits thing goes, I haven't used any beyond the game's default (upgraded) suit and the one from Infinity War. I kinda like this Spider-Man being its own thing, so I haven't felt the need to dress him up like characters from other stories. If you like Spider-Man, this game is essential. If you like good video games, period, it's essential.

That's what I did with Arkham, and I didn't regret it.
Yeah, I wasn't thrilled about the DLC being available so soon despite the fact that they probably finished the game months ago. I think the primary reason I'm okay with it is because, well...

[Edit: Forgot to add that I also keep getting distracted because I like to walk around the bustling city to give the "finger guns" gesture at civilians I see.]

On the topic of Legends, the only new guys I have to add to my wish list are Cosmic Ghost Rider and Howard the Duck as the Juggernaut. I refuse to call him Juggerduck when DUCKERNAUT was right there for the taking.
Is there a ben reilly scarlett spider costume in the game? And HELL YES TO DUCKERNAUT! Cmon walgreens make it happen!
