What happens when you have to bring a duffle bag to the mall to go christmas shopping, and someone wants to check your bag? Do you have to pull out every receipt and remember every item and where you bought it? I could see this as a big turn off, especially to people who buy a lot of stuff.
Why would you bring a duffel bag to a mall? That's a very specific example, when nearly any bag will do. If you're being checked by mall security, they're not looking for anything but weapons. Though I have never once been subject to such a thing at a mall, and I carry a shoulder bag at times. If you're going to a mall to shop at multiple stores, then you're going to find bags. If you're going to the mall to go solely to the Disney store, keep a plastic bag handy. A regular grocery store or even a regular Target bag is going to fit in a pants or jacket pocket.

It's not about inconvenience. Companies are looking to reduce the amount of waste they are producing. Plastic bags are an easy target as it not only looks good on paper, it reduces the amount of money they are spending (don't have to buy hundreds of thousands of plastic bags a year). Companies like Disney will look to profit off that, just as they look to profit off of everything.

Carry a bag, or don't. That's your choice to make. If it's not possible, then it's not possible. You know what they're doing, you know the options that are available and how to avoid paying them for a bag.
