Well to look at the half full side of things, as I'm wont to do with toylines. The Avatar 1/18th line while not spectacular was a giant step in the right direction. The DCUC style hips with ball jointed knees and ankles were a tonne better than the neo DCIH sculpts. I actually like them more at the 1/18th scale than on the larger figures. To make a figure on par with what Hasbro is turning out at that scale all Mattel really needs to do is make them a bit bigger (like 20% more plastic) to be in a similar size range as what Hasbro does at 1/18th and add in a few more P.O.A's per figure. Like a ball torso and neck, with wrist swivels. If they did that the move GL figures would be a competitor toyline to Hasbro's Marvel 1/18th offerings. (IMO)
