No need to apologize. I just think it benefits all of us to know where you picked them up. Improves our own chances of success with the hunt if we know where we should be looking. I got my preorders for the Kingpin wave in with Amazon...hopefully they'll come sooner this month rather than later like they are predicting.

I got a little burnt out towards the end of the year and held off on reviewing figures a bit, but it's a new year, and I figured I'd talk a little bit about my recent pickups from the Captain Marvel Wave:

Genis-Vell: Out of all the figures in the wave, both comic and MCU wise, I honestly feel like this one here is the stand out. The original Captain Marvel has a fantastic paint job that really pops, and I love how they did the star pattern around his body. He has a bit of marblization in the plastic on his lower legs and ankles, but I feel they work nicely in favor thanks to the reflective, outer space look of the character. He's on the Punisher/Grim Reaper body, and comes with a newly sculpted pistol, that I can very easily see being reused to replace that Walther style pistol we've all come to know and loathe over the years.

The only gripes that I had with Genis-Vell lies in the implementation of the shoulder pads, which interfere with his articulation. The head is also set a little high on the shoulders. I had to do a bit of dremeling to get it to sit a little lower on the neck peg. All and all, a very solid figure, and I love the paint work on this guy.

Grey Gargoyle: Now here's a character I didn't think we'd see a figure of, but lone behold...here he is. Having no real expectations, I guess it's done well enough, but there's really not a whole lot to talk about here. He's also on the Punisher/Reaper mold, so he's a bit larger, and is casted in rather stiff plastic that has a nice granite deco look to it. Being that it's rather stiff for whatever reason, I'd advise heating the joints up with water or a hair dryer before heavy posing. The cape is well done, and the little bit of paintwork on the hands and feet are done nicely enough. The cape sits well on the figure, and is held on the body with shoulder straps and a back peg, although like the recent Magneto figure, it doesn't quite peg in properly in the back. I may end up chopping it off, since the shoulder straps work well enough.

The headsculpt is what kinda kills this figure for me. It has a very classic, mustache twirling villain look to it, which isn't a bad thing, but whenever I look at it, I see this strange hybrid likeness between a young Will Smith and Jaleel White from Family Matters. A solid figure overall, though I can very easily see this one warming pegs two or three months from now.

Nick Fury (MCU): This is the only MCU figure from the wave that I picked up...because it's freaking Sam Jackson. How could I not? All kidding aside, it's your typical suited figure, though there are a couple of things to note. One, the top torso of the figure is a new sculpt, with a slightly different collar and neck tie from the previous suited body figures we've received. It's also been upscaled a bit, and it's a bit larger than the classic suited body we've all come to know and love. The face print is well done, though for some reason, it appears that he has a green tint on the whites of his eyes when you view it from certain angles or light. Not sure what that's all about.

The head from the previous Nick Fury figure will also work with this suited body, as will the head from this figure on the old Fury body, but they have different skin tones, so you may have to do some customization for a perfect look. I should also mention that the head on my suited Fury had a very wobbly and loose fitting head. I needed to stuff a bit of paper towel inside of it to get it to sit nice and tight on the ball peg.

Nick is also able to hold the bondage kitty by the scruff of his neck, allowing him to interrogate it, but the kitty is not able to stand on it's own as far as I can tell.

While I plan on distancing myself from MCU figures (four Captain Marvels in this wave? Seriously?) going forward into the new year, I'm glad that we got a new Fury. About the only thing I could have asked was that they included his modern look in the film with an alternate head. But why do that when you know Hasbro will likely do it with ANOTHER barely improved figure likely to be unveiled in the upcoming year.
