I would say that there needs to be more females around so kinda soothe all of... this. But it generally doesn't work as the ones I've spoken to personally were dissuaded by how vicious this place got towards them or their interests. The MCU brought in a massive new audience, and the old guard has always kind of bristled at sharing. It's pretty pathetic.

I thought about inviting my girl here because she's ladyballs deep in this stuff now, she's been reading the occasional comic from the store with me for a couple years and was brought into the fold via the Netflix shows. Things most "purist" dorks generally frown upon.

This is by no means meant to be a defense of gatekeeping, but a lot of us on here are old enough to remember a time when liking superheroes, sci-fi and horror was a thing you got bullied for and ostracized, so I can understand why they'd be defensive when all of a sudden the same people who used to beat you up in middle school for having Marvel trading cards in your backpack are now saying how they're such a HUGE fan of Captain America and Spider-Man... But you should definitely invite the missus, I'd invite mine but she couldn't give two figs about this stuff, anime is more her speed haha
