They only ever really act up when we're there fortunately, trying to get our attention by knocking stuff on the ground. Occasionally I'll find something on the floor like they ran into a shelf chasing each other or whatnot when we were at work but that is rare. Imho, elaborate cat-proofing often ends up backfiring. For example, we put a strip of packing tape sticky side up across the top of our headboard because one cat would get up there and drive us nuts while we were trying to sleep. My little angel baby gets up there, gets stuck, and flips out, then he's somehow covered in tape around his entire body with 6 feet trailing behind him running all over the place and getting other stuff stuck to him. I guess that was enough of a deterrent since he hasn't been back up there.
