Comic molten man.
Thank you. I actually don't mind the movie version...it literally looks like a Molten...Man. It's gross, menacing and painful looking. Looking forward to seeing how it looks on the big screen.

Yep...that custom pretty much nailed it. Looks good too!

Catching up on my acquisitions, here's a couple of thoughts on two figures from the X-Men wave that I picked up from Walgreens last week...Jubilee and Beast.

Jubilee: Lemme just get this outta the way, it was a really cruel joke by Hasbro sticking Jubilee as a BAF for a very scarce wave that was also a store exclusive....but then for it to also be closer to the vampire version of the character? Double whammy...

Well, after all these years, Hasbro has finally given us the version most of us grew up with and loved, and she's (mostly) pretty darn good. Hasbro could have went lazy with this figure and reused the headsculpt from the original figure (more on that later) but instead, we get two new headsculpts, including a bubblegum blowing one that screams personality. The body sculpt is mostly new as well, and since it's a teen body, could probably be converted into some great teen figure customs. I love the way the shirt, pants and boots came out, and I have to tip my hat to Hasbro on the color selections. They hit it out of the park.

But it has a couple of glaring flaws. No firework effects? Seriously? Two pairs of glasses, but they don't peg onto the head, and the glasses on the static head aren't removable unless you pry them off the head, as they are glued. My static head also had some derpy eyes behind those glasses.

For some reason, they gave Jubilee a hand that features a roll of the dice motion as well, which leaves her left hand in a somewhat awkward pose. And finally...(and this one drives me crazy) the new Jubilee has a neck peg that is not compatible with the head from the BAF. To make matters worse, the new heads are sculpted somewhat short on the back, exposing the neck peg quite hideously if you look at the figure from the back, as the neck collar on the jacket is not quite high enough to hide it.

Here she is next to the BAF, in case you were wondering:

These issues aside...she's pretty good...and it's one re-issue I'm glad to have.

Beast: Toe articulation! Holy crap! Is this a Toy Biz figure?

This one is probably one of the most anticipated figure in the wave, but for me, it's also easily the most disappointing. My bias for the cat version of Beast aside, I'm gonna point out the elephant in the room...this head sculpt sucks. I hate it. The eyes and teeth are poorly painted, and the eyes feel WAY too small. I'm thinking (or hoping) that Hasbro will release another, more static or calm headsculpt to include with another figure or set in the future, because this one blows. I'd love to get one of Hank wearing his glasses, and of course, in his cat form.

The wash and drybrushing is nice, but it's also uneven in some areas...or non-existent (like on the toes) leaving the figure feeling a bit unfinished. Like En Sabah mentioned, there's no matching set of hands, and while the articulation is very good on this figure, the joints on mine were a bit loose, particularly on the arms. The plastic has a really strange, semi soft feel to it as well, and I honestly feel like the figure is a bit too big in comparison to the average Legends figure. I feel that the Toybiz version from the X-men Classics line captured Beast's size a little better.

I really wanted to like this figure more, but the execution for me just wasn't there. If Hasbro gives us another headsculpt for it in the future, I will clear up a good amount of the issues I have with it, but until then, I still feel that ToyBiz's X-Men Classics figure is superior to this one, despite the wet-suited attire.
