While I do like the idea of the red suit Superman as a nod to Mon-El, the red suit Superman is just Superman Red, from Superman 162 (1963). Which I believe I even have. Basically, Kryptonite splits Superman in two - an all red and an all blue form. In the 90s the idea was revisited, giving him/them electric powers for some reason.
