I believe you've always needed to provide a payment option for your waitlist order. How else are they going to charge you for it if it comes through? :P

You shouldn't be charged anything for your waitlist order unless you get a follow up email from them saying you will be converted to an actual order.

Waitlist also does come with an order number.
