Red was especially impressive - while I went back and forth on Tom Taylor's handling of Laura in her own book (and wasn't a fan of his apparent vitriol towards Logan spoken through other characters), I felt he handled the team book really well, especially given the mix of characters there. His Nightcrawler, in particular, is one of the most true-to-character versions I've read in a while, and his Jean was top-notch, giving her a spotlight rarely afforded to the character (and giving her a team leader role in which she excelled quite well).

I also did enjoy a number of the 'Age of X-Man' books. Prisoner X, Amazing Nightcrawler, and X-Tremists were all pretty damn good, and while I'm still undecided on it (since I haven't read the final issue), Apocalypse and the X-Tracts has been a bit of fun. But it helps that I'd been following those writers beforehand.

Also gotta give props to the newer version of Generation X. It may not have been great, but you can tell Christina Strain had love for it, and was trying, which is a lot more than other X-Books (*coughXMENGOLDcough*), and it started moving Quentin Quire into a more likable character (which West Coast Avengers just expanded on in leaps and bounds).

Anyway, uhhh, back to toy talk, um... Hm. Been kinda quiet for me on the Legends front. I picked up Retro-wave Iceman and Silver Samurai the other day, and other than his facemask being a little misaligned for his eyes, Samurai is really nice. Honestly, he's already in the running for my Top Ten of this year, with all the new sculpting and the excellent paint job. Iceman is... well, Iceman. Nothing wrong with him aside from gummy knees, but nothing amazing, either. I'm just glad Gamestop was still doing their BOGO 50% sale.
Hey now! X-men Gold gave Storm the nap she's been needing for years!
I also just recently read all the AOX books - they were all fun to differing degrees EXCEPT Marvelous X-Men, which was just boring and making sure to point out in obviousness what all the other books were making more mysterious and interesting.

Back to toys - yes Samurai is a great figure! I hadn't been jonesing for him but he's probably my #2 figure in the wave, maybe because he's the only brand new never made in any Marvel Legends form figure. But he's a damn good sculpt too...very "solid" figure - he's quite heavy LOL
