The only thing that makes them worthwhile to put on a shelf at all is if they have vehicles to pose with. I do have some of the 25th anniversary Joes, but I only put them on my shelves on top of a HISS or a VAMP.

However, six inch Joes could easily get their own shelf, and not be strange. As I kid, I could never afford many of the vehicles, but I got a lot of figures. I think GI Joe was great because of how many characters they rolled out year after year. Really cool looking guys. Ninjas, commandos, soldiers, marines, etc. etc.

I think there's a place for both lines. They manage it with Star Wars. Maybe a HasLab thing with preorders is the way to go, but I don't expect them to ever bother. That's why I've started making my own custom versions recently.
As what was stated in an above post Military toys in general are not a high selling property point at this time. Superheroes is what is selling we are no longer in a cold war and war toys just are not relevant by today standards. Star Wars has movies planned for a god minute and to this day is still really popular. So they will sell. I am still waiting for a 6" scale ATAT.
