That's just how it is.
Look, if you're slow to checkout that's on you, bad/ slow internet connection is also on you, and unless your ticketmaster, the whole "reserve your cart thing," as you said and is also an impossibility for most entities due to expense.
With that said, the broken checkout button was just a failure on their part, plain and simple and a worthy thing to invest in I might add. And while they still sold their product, many people missed out for that very specific reason so it's a pretty valid complaint. I'm neither here nor there because at the end of the day there are always winners and losers in collecting and in life, but not everything NECA does is worth or needs defending. A lot definitely is and I'll sing their praises when it's due, but I'll also call them out on what I perceive to be their flaws.

The paint on the The Real Ghostbusters figures was mediocre. Some of the Marvel Selects are good but the articulation still stinks. You are correct that Hasbro is actually doing a decent job of fan service but they are so opaque you would hardly know unless you follow their convention panels. Randy (and Brian from Super7) are front and center for folks like PixelDan to answer direct questions, provide as much news as possible, and show their love for their products. Hasbro, Playmates, Mattel, and Diamond don't really do that. Zach Oat kind of does that for Diamond, I guess, but to a lesser extent.
I wouldn't exactly call DST's articulation sub-par, but to each their own I guess.

He did it his way and the hobby and collectors moved on in another direction and he failed to adapt. Now he's playing catch up but, frankly, I haven't seen anything especially noteworthy come out of them so far. Fortnite and GoT? Fortnite is old news and largely appeals to kids and teens. GoT is over. They are YEARS behind on those figures being relevant (not blaming them for that but releasing GoT figures as the show ends is bad timing). They have Mortal Kombat but those aren't especially noteworthy either. I was an old school McFarlane collector but they have really failed to pivot as things changed.
McFarlane may be playing catch up, but they are catching up really quickly. While I don't own any of McFarlane's Fortnite figures, apparently they are making bank off of them and are wildly acclaimed among the collector community. That success is the reason why Todd has said the articulation seen in the Fortnite line will be the basis for all of their figure lines going forward. I'm not a DC guy, but I have a feeling McFarlane Toys is going to re-surge in a big way in 2020 when they release their DC Superhero figure line up. Time will tell, but I think a lot of collectors will be really impressed by them.
