Too many of the Spider-Man waves lately have been filling up with more modern characters or C-list characters that shelf warm and go unsold. For every popular figure out like Mysterio or Green Goblin, there are 20 unsold Jackal and Six-Armed Spideys seen at local stores. More modern characters like the yet-to-get-a-figure female Electro and the upcoming Superior Octopus figure don't have me as excited as buying a classic Electro figure or a Doc Ock with overdue bendy wire tentacles. And since Doctor Octopus is my all-time favorite Spider-Man villain, the current static tentacles accessories the 2018 figure had are incredibly disappointing. Maybe they could re-release the 2018 classic Ock figure with new alternate head sculpts from different eras (like a John Romita Sr. likeness head or a current Doc Ock head based on the recent "Superior Spider-Man" run) and repainted brighter suit colors to justify the re-release with the new bendable tentacles.

I'm also surprised Hasbro doesn't re-release figures with either new bodies that have more improved articulation and new head sculpts or re-release previous figures with new head sculpts, accessories, repainted suit colors, etc. Just because Hasbro already made one version of a figure, doesn't mean they shouldn't make it again. I see responses like "Hasbro has already had a figure of classic Green Goblin." Yes, they did -- three years ago, that was insanely hard to find (for me at least), is now $60 and up now on Ebay, and not everyone could find it at the time and/or was collecting Marvel Legends figures then. The same for Build-A-Figure characters like the Sandman and Rhino. Not everyone can afford to buy all of the figures, and some of the characters per wave were characters fans didn't know and/or didn't want to buy, leaving their BAF toy incomplete.

I'm hopeful that for 2020, Hasbro releases more classic versions of figures for popular Marvel heroes, villains and civilians, especially if a vintage Spider-Man wave gets made. I'd love to add all-new classic figures of the Chameleon, Sandman, the Lizard, Electro, the Green Goblin, Boomerang, the Rhino, the Shocker and the Hobgoblin to my collection.

However, time (and most likely the New York Toy Fair in February) will tell.
Ooh, a Romita Jr. head for Doctor Octopus would be great. I love Marvel Legends figures with artist-specific likenesses, and I would like it if Hasbro did more of them. It gives the figure a sense of place, makes it feel more like the character. And I cannot agree more on the static tentacles on Doc Ock. They make the figure a little boring, and it limits posing. I have hope for Hasbro doing more retreads of characters, with things like the Fantastic Four that are coming out. I have no issue with C-listers, I think the best part of Marvel Legends is getting random-ass characters, but I do find which ones Hasbro makes baffling (why Lady Beetle? There’s still one at literally every store near me).
