No one else felt compelled to copy them, it was too expensive. Now, with face printing technology, every brand based on a likeness can do it, even the $9 WWE toys. The biggest dilemma for Hasbro, Mattel, McFarlane, and every other toy company is "What can we make that fits Walmart & Target's price structure" That's it. The companies look at each other for inspiration, and they cannibalize each other's talent, but it's closer to the rivalry of DC & Marvel than it is Ford and Chevy.

You just perfectly described market competition and why it's good while bringing up the realities of staying profitable.

Really a lot of discussion for some people like these figures and others don't.

You don't make the best figure if it's not profitable to do so.
Face printing technology isn't being used by Hasbro just because they want to have the most accurate product.

Hasbro: Are you someone who wants better engagement with a brand, we have a product with photorealistic faces at a low price. Want to buy one?

It's to attract customers and other business were also exploring this.
When technology develops to a point to keep costs love, companies may adopt this to meet or exceed the competition.

Inspiration = Competition
