I have no beef with McFarlane the man. In fact, we probably wouldn't be here on this site talking about buying toys as grown-ass men if he hadn't started his company way back in the day (he also was very influential as a comic book artist as well). So, as adult toy collectors I think we all do owe him at least some gratitude, despite however he may or may not conduct himself as a person (I don't know anything about that, personally).

That said, I do agree with those who said that he has been doing a bad job of evolving his toy lines and keeping up with the expectations of modern day collectors, and as a result he's gone from an innovator to ineffectually playing catch-up. But the Fortnite figures are a step in the right direction, even if I personally find the DC figures to be "eh" at best.

I think that's rather extreme hyperbole and taking a whole hell of a lot for granted, but to each his own. If you like 'em, good on you. But however people may or may not feel about McFarlane's DC line, I doubt it'll end up being the "hit of 2020." But that doesn't mean it won't possibly be very successful.
