Ok, so there have been 3.75" Marvel Legends which was the rebranded Marvel Universe line from several years ago. There were also some 12" Marvel Legends from a few years ago as well. Neither of these scales are being produced at the moment by Hasbro so any current X-Men figures will be 6". This includes the main Marvel Legends line with BAFs and the Vintage line.

Many BAFs can be purchased on eBay or you could always buy the wave and then sell off the figures you don't want.

Are there only a few of these or is there a whole series of Toybiz themed X-Men figures for Legends?
The vintage card backs are for nostalgia mainly. Hasbro originally used it as a way to give new fans an option for getting older, popular figures that had gone up in price on the secondary market. Now, it's just a method for releasing new figures.

Can some toysplain me what is going on here and possibly point me to a resource where I can see these figures.....Thanks so much! Pictures and suggestions are most welcome!
Most of these figures have been released over the past couple of years. Some of them won't be cheap, even some of the figures that came out last year. I can't really recommend any check lists or guides since most are out of date or incomplete. If you want to find most of these figures, check Hasbro Pulse, BBTS, Dorksidetoys, Gamestop, Walgreens, Walmart, and Target. You'll want to make sure to check online and in store for the retailers with a brick and mortar presence.

I would start by checking Dorksidetoys. They have several of the figures you listed, either new in box or loose. Also checking your local Gamestops.
