There's a lot of stuff being conflated here as having a direct cause and effect relationship, when the truth of the matter is that it's just not that simple.

I'm not sure if people have noticed, but online retailers have been adjusting Legends pricing in a manner that reflects the secondary market and highly sought after figs, and this has been happening independently from any 'Push for $15' initiative taking place in various states around the country. It's very possible that Gamestop has caught on, especially since their business model is predicated on the secondary market for games. But, that said, I'm not going to hazard an uniformed guess as to why they're going this route.

Jumping to assumptions and cherry-picking culprits for some market dynamic without engaging in any serious effort to understand or even learn about the bigger picture results in skewed perceptions and susceptibility to political manipulation.

I don't work in financial news/publishing/intelligence anymore, nor do I have access to tomes of 'empirical research' (this is where you go for real peer reviewed research sans spin or bias) via LexisNexis work subscriptions, but here are just some quick links to research and reporting on the matter that debunk some of what's just been tossed out in a few comments - one is from the Upjohn Institute (if you follow this stuff, you know who they are) and the other is from Forbes - an Opinion piece:

report on peer reviewed research, with abstract linked

opinion..

Take away what you will, I'm not trying to convince anyone or change minds - just trying to avoid empty statements that don't reflect reality.

Anecdotally speaking - so think grain of salt here - both my rents were marginally successful entrepreneurs. And, as some may, or may not know, small business owners are the number one source of employment for most Americans. My Pop retired from contracting roughly 10-15 years ago and he believed firmly in paying workers fairly. He paid unskilled laborers $15+ per/hr back then and skilled laborers $20-$25 per/hr. I respect him for that. He took less but got more in a way - they worked really well and their craftwork showed. The idea that it cannot be done, especially for large companies, is frankly bullshit from my own personal experience. I also helped with the bookkeeping from time to time, giving me added perspective. Even still, I extend this info as anecdotal, meaning find out for yourself rather than spouting what others TELL you...
