Found the NECA '89 Godzilla at Target. There actually weren't any out on the shelf when I first got there which was a little disheartening but when I asked an employee he checked in the back and found some, so cheers to helpful Target employees. This has always been my favorite Heisei era suit so I'm thrilled that NECA got to it but it's also kind of bittersweet since it's looking like this may be the last NECA Godzilla I ever get (I mourn for the '68 figure that never was). This figure is kinda damn near perfect, especially for the price range NECA keeps them in. I don't know if it's just mine but the joints are a bit tight, which is a mild shame since their '64 figure had excellent movement right out of the box so I had hoped for similar joints here. Maybe with time they'll become more agreeable but as is it's not terrible. The tail is great, it's a good length and the segmented articulation can be used to full effect where it's actually making a soft 'S' shape. Everything else is pretty comparable to the '64 figure except that obviously it is all based around this suit design so some movement is hindered compared to that slimmer Showa era suit. The one thing this figure can do though that the '64 can't is actually use his atomic breath effect with ease, and it is a pretty neat effect piece with a nice glitter-like blue and a spiraling blast sculpt.
