A lot of that was about the Marvel vs DC argument, because the DC figures weren't the same quality. When Hasbro got the license the POA dropped WAY down.

And all of a sudden Revoltech, Tamashi Nations and Figuarts were everywhere. They took exactly what americans were complaining about at $12 and sold it back to them for $50.

I suspect the same thing would happen here.

You're leaving out that the imports also feature superior sculpts, paint apps, made of more durable materials, multiple accessories, etc. All of it adds up to a more higher end product in the end.
