Ruining? I don't see how Miles Morales ruined Spiderman or how Kamala Khan ruined Ms. Marvel. I think thats more about your perception than reality.

It shows a true lack of unoriginal thought process by todays “talent.” There is a plethora of under utilized Characters of ALL KINDS out there that could be utilized but they choose to rooster whats already been established to give the illusion of “Yes we care”-ism. Even in comics it happens ( yes i know it has been going on forever and a day ) but its gotten worse in the last 20 years. There seems to be absolutely no real original ideas any more just rehashing and recycling they same tired Plots etc.

Why do you think mainstream characters are changed? Because people become familiar with a character and it is much harder to get people to care about newly created characters. Much easier to get an attachment to an already existing mainstream character.

Then it translates into toys that stagnate and dont move.

You mean like the 10 Iron Mans and 10 Spidermans that are always remade? I guess thats much better than the newer redesigned characters

Representation may be important but not at the expense of what is.
Are you sure about that? Ask that to those who were so underrepresented for so many years...
They need to come up with new characters and new plots. And yes i am serious.....if its okay to change things one way then it also needs to flow the opposite way otherwise it is unfair to both sides.
I am all for new characters and plots but i'm also not bothered by race/gender swapping because I know how important it is and no, swapping a Spanish or black character to a white character is not the same. Last I checked, white characters have been overwhelming in comics and media for decades. Swapping Latino, Asian, and black characters to white would limit those numbers even more.
