I'd say that holds just as much weight, if not more, than not being able to, either physically or mentally, manage the (as you said) rigorous pacing of TV filming. Which, again, is in this case a physically demanding role with stuntwork involved. Hard to compare that to a lot of other jobs, unless they are likewise physically-intensive and rigorously-scheduled.

It's not about copping a 'tude, it's about not being selective when comparing experiences. Even someone who was old-hat at that kind of work, I'd have serious concerns for their physical health if they threw themselves back into that kind of a grind with that little recovery time after back surgery. Hell, I'm sure whatever your job is, I'd feel the same towards your own possible surgery.
While I agree that returning to work so soon after surgery does seem dangerous, the biggest hurdle a lot of tv actors have to overcome is the shooting schedule. For the CW shows, it takes 9 days to film a single, 42 minute episode with the actors working 14 hours each day. That's roughly half of a superhero movie being filmed in just over a week. And when the lead actor/actress is in most of the scenes, they're not getting a lot of time off.

For a little added perspective, Elijah Wood starred in three Lord of the Rings movies and has been acting since he was a kid. But even he found the shooting schedule for Wilfred tough. The actress who played his sister on the show said she met him for the pilot and he was pretty upbeat/optimistic about the shooting schedule when she asked him about. But when her character was brought back at the end of the season, she asked him how it went and his response was something along the lines of 'omygod' and 'What did I get myself into?'.
