Yeah I dunno.... I keep flip flopping on whether or not this is the right scale for 6" figures. The photos of it in the hands of Reitman and the Hasbro reps make it look smaller. You're correct that at 9 inches in height, it SHOULD be big enough for the 6" figures. But the length and width seem a bit too short by comparison. It's probably not true 1:12 scale then and a little bit squat in proportion, kind of like the Kenner Real Ghostbusters Ecto-1.


Note this photo of the guys standing next to the full size one. For a 6" figure, 9" should be ideally sized at least for the height.
