Since I couldn't afford the Hot Toys versions I was pretty eagerly anticipating the Legends movie Deadpool figure, as he probably represents my favorite page-to-screen translation of any superhero costume, but while the figure is indeed beautifully sculpted, he seems quite cheap in-hand, looking and feeling like he was cast in a much lower-grade, flimsier plastic than other recent figures (like his on-screen antagonist, Cable), and his articulation is somewhat nonsensical in places. His head appears to be attached to his shoulders via some kind of inverted T-bar that
looks
like it should add additional movement but doesn't, and despite being completely separate pieces, his calves do not swivel, but are instead cemented into place (a curious design choice which the MCU Taskmaster figure also suffers from) making deep poses awkward and tricky to pull off, especially given how far the figure's left foot is turned out. In another bit of oddity, the calves themselves are unusually long, again making crouching poses a bit frustrating, but perhaps that's just an anatomical eccentricity of Ryan Reynolds in real life, I don't know (at least it's not as immediately distracting as MCU Red Guardian's T-Rex arms). The accessories, too, are a combination of frustrating and underwhelming, the Desert Eagles requiring an hour or more of painstaking nudging and pulling with small tools and boiling water to work free of the holsters, and the katanas seem undersized and flimsy. Oddly, they're the blades used in the first Deadpool film while the Deagle holsters are the type worn by Reynolds onscreen in
the sequel
. Considering the inclusion of additional hands with both black and silver strips on the back (representing Deadpool's gloves in the first and second films), it seems Hasbro's intent was to try to capture the character's look from both films but in practice you end up with a figure that recreates neither entirely accurately. All that said, this is still one of my favorite Marvel movie figures, but the "so close and yet so far" aspect is exceedingly irksome (especially the lack of calf-swivels, after the designers put in 90% of the work of making them).
As for "Domino", while the sculpt is very nice and the translucent hair effect is kind of interesting, the figure as a whole is just kind of dull, visually. The blue and black on her costume seem washed-out and faded (in contrast with the much more vibrant-looking Deadpool) and the problem is compounded by the brown-on-brown muddle where the opera gloves meet her bare arms or the ribbed sections of her costume encircle her neckline. Even the prominent metallics on her boots have a brownish hue.
