As mentioned by other posters, the scope of aggression and marginalization faced by our transgender neighbors can involve murder, suicide, and denial of access to appropriate healthcare services in conjunction with intense bigotry. Being the object of dangerously oppressive and intolerant circumstances can create conditions of PTSD, among other negative health related repercussions (both psychological and physiological in nature). Gina's insensitive (I'm being generous here) comments demonstrate how ubiquitous and easily disseminated hate can be. As also mentioned by other posters, hateful speech and/or opinion isn't meritorious nor deserving of a platform.

Empathy has been bandied about on this thread a few times. Empathy and emotional intelligence are practiced skills; some people can naturally have an abundance of both, but most of us have to work at the skillset.
