But as valid as your point is, please keep in mind the last figure was just that -- six years ago. This isn't like this is a figure made so suddenly after a previous figure was released. There has to be a certain acceptable amount of waiting time between one version of a figure and its inevitable re-release/upgrade. Figures get remade all the time. This isn't new. Like Veronica Mars said, collectors who are new to this line will want to get their own Spider-Man 2099, myself included. (Of course, I'm also waiting on a new classic U.S. Agent figure and his last figure came out even longer than the Spidey 2099 figure, but I digress.)

There are plenty of figures that Hasbro can make/re-make/re-release and fans will always buy it. Classic versions of characters like Captain America, Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, etc. always sell out. Those looks are iconic, everyone knows them, everyone loves them, and every fan wants to add them to their collection. And even costumes that aren't the original looks that are still met with heavy fan demand, such as red-and-gold armor Iron Man and the Jim Lee era X-Men uniforms, always sell out too. The two main problems I have with every Marvel Legends wave, though, are "Who can I afford?" and "Who can I find?" And whenever I see a popular character like Jim Lee uniform Cyclops or whatever always sell out in pre-orders, never show up in stores and then quickly find their way on Ebay and Amazon being sold for three or four times more than the retail price, that's what really upsets me.

Though to be fair, Spider-Man 2099 is just a rumor at this point. We don't know if it'll even happen. We all thought Legendary Riders Hawkeye and a Walgreens-exclusive classic U.S. Agent were in the works as reported, but they never came out last year and we don't even know if they're really going to get made this year or even ever. Until Hasbro shows us what'll actually come out, then I'll get excited. That said, it's always fun to speculate, guess and wish-list.

I hope you all are having a great day and have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, True Believers.
Well, I can't speak for Hulkwummy, but when you responded to the comment suggesting that the poster had answered their own question and referred to them as "buddy," it did smack as a bit infantilizing, if not quite meeting the threshold of stark or blatant condescension. Regardless of whatever I may believe about the intent behind your seeming choice in tone, there are a few things I don't agree with that you've mentioned.

Your suggestion that 6 years is a fair amount of time to issue a remake is a pretty subjective measurement. As someone that has collected Legends since 2002 I can testify that there are many figures and costumes that haven't been revisited in a decade or more. I'd prefer to see an Avalanche, Classic Dr. Strange, 90's Ghost Rider, 90's Captain Britain, FA Power Man, FA Iron Fist, or Tigra before yet another alternate reality Miguel-Spidey. Also, technically, the last 2099 Spidey was 4 years ago in the Sandman BAF wave (albeit in a redrafted costume). So, Miguel, a character with popularity that's debatable has actually seen 3 iterations and 2 different costumes within a 20 year span of Legends figures between Toy Biz and Hasbro...and another may be on the way.

You alluded to secondary prices being prohibitive to newer collectors and that redrafting these rarer figures offsets costs, however, the jury is still out on that. Let's use an example from one of your subsets to litmus test this theory. Jim Lee Rogue was about $80 on eBay before the retro re-release. Now, following the redraft, secondary rates for both figs average around $45 a few months out from the re-release and stand the chance of eventually climbing back to where they were initially as the new one leaves stores. An improvement in secondary pricing, but with millions still laid off and an economy that remains flagging, theses rates are still out of reach for many/most fans.

The rates for these figs in the secondary market are largely set by the capricious nature of a fickle collecting crowd and you'll have to forgive me if I'm a bit cynical of a multinational corporation claiming that they are reselling me the same toy with a new paint job (aka minimal effort) out of some sense of altruism. Additionally, if one employs patience, almost anything can be purchased on eBay for cost plus shipping, or less even. I know this because I received just today my 5th SDCC set astral Dr. Strange, a fig that lists between $45 and $70, for a meager $12...and it's in great shape.

About your claim that the flagship characters "always sell out," that's simply not my experience. I've witnessed many a flagship fig sit on pegs in my tri-state creating a glut of merchandise that prevents sell through and delays subsequent waves. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Now there's no guarantee that wouldn't happen with a newly crafted lesser known fig, but I can't say that the heavy-weight characters fair better in some demonstrable fashion.

There are always multiple ways to look things and the original question, in my opinion, is a valid one.

At this point new versions of Cap, Iron Man, Spidey, Wolverine and Deadpool should not be packed with BaF pieces
True that, but it represents a drip, drip, drip of which I've grown pretty tired.
