While it's true we're getting some non-X waves that are comic-based, I was disappointed by the selections made to the X-Men waves and Spider-Man waves this year. Granted, we don't officially know which characters will be in the waves for the second X-Men and Spider-Man waves, it's still an Age of Apocalypse wave and a Spider-Man movie wave. This will make two waves for A.o.A. and for this year two Spider-Man movie-based waves. After the Retro Spider-Man wave exceeded my expectations, this year there's very little known for comic-based Spider-Man stuff, aside from the teases of more single-figure-releases of the Retro Spider-Man brand. Frog Man, the Hand Ninja and whichever is the lone comic based character of the second wave are all we know for comic figures for the Spider-Man waves for 2021 and that's left me underwhelmed. Aside from Moira MacTaggert, the House of X/Powers of X X-Men wave did nothing for me, either. Heck, I'm still waiting to find figures of Cyclops in his '70s costume and his '90s costume that I was never able to find/buy whenever they came out. I never got into the Age of Apocalypse storyline, so with the second wave this fall, that will make two waves of X-Men figures I've passed on. Even the character selection for Bring On The Bad Guys was kind of disappointing to me, especially for whoever that is cosplaying as the Hood.

The Retro Fantastic Four wave is the one I'm most excited to see/pre-order/buy, but even then I'm worried we may not get a fully-flamed on Human Torch and a completely-visible Invisible Woman. Also, I'm still shocked no plans were done for Captain America this year since it's his 80th anniversary year. And not one Avengers comic wave? I really hope the two peg-warming Gamerverse waves didn't kill any new Avengers waves for the foreseeable future. Maybe we'll see more Retro and classic costumes for characters in 2021, especially since Ant-Man, Hulk, Spider-Man and Thor have their 60th anniversaries next year, the Fox Kids "X-Men" animated series turns 30 and the Sam Raimi 'Spider-Man' film turns 20. There's a lot of anniversary waves potential for Hasbro to turn their attention to, if they choose to go that route.

To be honest, I'm glad for those who wanted to see/pre-order-buy more of the M.C.U. based figures and that they're finally getting some attention. I just wish we got more classic figures of well-known characters in their '60s/'70s/'80s/'90s costumes, is all. I'm spending less money on Marvel Legends waves this year than I thought, and that's disappointing. Who knows, though? Maybe Hasbro will surprise us all between now and the fall with some more new content. We'll see.
