NECA makes enough to actually sell them in a retail store. These are probably being made in the thousands. Not tens or hundreds of thousands, thousands. Having that small of a production run means each unit needs to be a higher price, because stuff like material cost (or for something like this, especially the cost of the actual steel molds) isn't being spread over as many units as something produced in much greater quantity. Similar reason BotCon exclusives for Transformers were so substantially pricier than retail release of the same molds: produced in substantially lower quantity, so they have to increase the price to make up for that loss of economy of scale.
