Pardon the rant, but I feel like this figure sums up all my feelings about current Hasbro Marvel Legends. I'm a giant Venom fan and would love to nab this figure. Doing the 90s animated look is a great idea, and no other line is likely to make an articulated version of it. The packaging is so fun and vibrant, as is the idea of the deco gimmick. The headsculpt is great and the articulation cuts look nice. I also really admire their continued commitment to extra hands and heads, but they're not going to fill those shoulder holes? Or just use a different mold? Even for a convention exclusive release like this? It doesn't help that the deco isn't as executed as well as it could be, but worst of all, the quality of the plastic just looks awful as usual, even in these official photos. As someone that grew up with the Toybiz ML figures, it's such a shame. There's been so much improvement, especially in terms of proportions and accessories, but the overall quality and feel of the plastic is so much worse in comparison to those old figures. Full of ugly marks and it always feels cheap, sometimes even gummy. It's the reason I stick to more premium lines like Mafex and Amazing Yamaguchi, but they'll never do more niche stuff like all the animated Spidey stuff and it'd be nice to buy some cheaper figures every once in a while. It really sucks.
