The sad fact is sometimes designers get a hold of a property and just don't "get it". It's true that Transformers pretty much owned the 80's robot crowd. But I collected both and liked them for completely different reasons. That's what Nacelle is missing. Altering a property's primary creative direction into something almost unrecognizable does not help the property. You're totally right that this looks like a generic 90's robot. This is an 80's property. Not a 90's property. And there are aspects of 90's toys that just need to stay dead. The 90's was the absolute worst thing to happen to many 80's properties. They might as well change the name to "EXXxxxtremly Grittier Robo Force". And it's a bummer too.
