And nowadays the movie people have that concept stuck in their head and can't see Batman as anything else but a "real" superhero. And I mean that is part of his appeal, but only when you mix it with the fact that he fights against the most insane, fantastic and corny stuff. Not simple serial killers with a gimmick.
It also makes for boring action figures, as we see here. It's not just McFarlane's usual, well, "underperformance", the designs are lame to begin with.
Superhero based Marvel/DC movies are not made with the comic based fanbase in mind, they could give a rats butt about us, they just cater to the non comic fans that don't know the Riddler from a hole in the wall. The more they try & make these characters "real world", the further they drive me out of watching these movies. Comic characters are not real people, they are make believe characters that we read as kids to escape the real world for a few hrs on a rainy Saturday afternoon. And it's a joke that WB mandates to Todd that this line be 90% Batman based. That's why I stand by the assertion that the 4HM sculpted DCUC was & still is the greatest action figure line based on DC heroes & Villains ever!
