FYI: privately held companies can also represent enormous businesses - Bloomberg, Fidelity Investments, Koch Industries, etc.

However, I wasn't making a point about Rolex's size. What I was getting at is that HasLabs represent ready-made collector items that immediately accrue in value rather than depreciate; a 'Rolex' of toys. They're intended to be crown jewels of a collection that the consumer has the prerogative to either buy, or not. I was poking fun at the idea that some seem to like the notion of having something distinguished, but want it for bargain costs.

Which, of course, is fine, but if it doesn't fund there shouldn't be some expectation that Hasbro has to now make good on a failed/rejected project.

....it's sort of interesting that Hot Toys has carved out a niche for this at which few blink an eye.

Meh.
Yeah I see your point. When you put it as a crown jewel thing that makes more sense. I guess there is no rule against crowd funding for any corporate entity.
Hopefully the rancor is worth it. I tend to stay away from the high end collectibles but they do look neat. I love cheap thrills lol
