MSRP: $20
Price I Paid: $15
Scale: 7-inch (or 1/10)

Robin (Damian Wayne) seems to be fairly popular. He's sold out at most places. BBTS and Dorkside Toys still have him in stock for MSRP, though they also charge flat rate shipping fees.

For the top picture in my reviews, I usually show a figure holding accessories included with it. In this case, I'm showing Robin (Damian Wayne) holding two swords that were originally meant for the 1999 Mandarin Spawn action figure. I really don't like the accessories that McFarlane chose for Robin. In fact, even though I thought the figure itself looked pretty cool, I bought it, returned it, and bought it again because I was so unhappy about the accessories.

The really long sword with backwards hilt guards is known as a promethium sword, and it's usually wielded by Deathstroke. It's almost as long as Robin's height, which means that it's probably too heavy for him to wield properly. And yes, I know there are comics pages showing him using it, but whatever. The six-spoke wheel knives look like they're supposed to be inspired by the Teen Titans: Rebirth #1 cover, but in that comic, he's holding individual blades, not connected ones.

In the plastic tray, there's one main plastic tie around Robin's torso. The cape fits through a slot in the plastic tray so that it's tucked behind the tray rather than underneath the figure. You also get an information card and a base stand. Robin looks like he's about 6.5-inches tall, but he's probably shorter if you take into account his upswept hair.

I'm impressed by the paint apps on this figure. Everything is very clean, including the shoelaces on the boots. McFarlane re-used most of the body for the Robin Crow King figure.

Robin has a slightly different articulation structure compared to the "adult" figures. He has single-jointed elbows and knees, though the elbows also have swivels hidden in the forearms. The head can turn 360 degrees, but not the torso. I don't think the single-jointed elbows and knees impede movement as much as the costume design. The cape prevents his arms from being raised. The tunic keeps the torso rigidly in place and prevent his legs from going into deep splits.

As I mentioned earlier, I was not happy with the accessories. I stumbled upon the 1999 Mandarin Spawn's swords by chance, and I think they look great in Robin's hands. The sword handles' color even pairs well with the green of his gloves and boots! If you look at my pictures, you'll also see how odd it was for McFarlane to give Deathstroke a sword that's not only shorter than the promethium sword but also the Mandarin's longer sword. The promethium sword really should've been included with Deathstroke in the first place, even if that figure is based on his appearance in the Arkham video games.

I really like the level of detail of McFarlane's DC action figures. I just wish the company would put more thought into the accessories in terms of how much is included, what is included, and their actual designs. Also, I've had to look on eBay for spare accessories so that my Batfamily can have matching grapnels and batarangs. I hope that McFarlane can consider standardizing accessories across figures or offering accessories packs.

Areas of concern:
-- The legs fall off easily since the sockets for the hip pegs are not fully enclosed.
-- Be careful not to break the shoelaces on the boots when moving the legs.
