Masked Street Date: Officially 2021-10-03
MSRP: $25
Price I Paid: $25
Scale: 7-inch (or 1/10)

This was a Target Exclusive that included Jokerbot BAF pieces. It's sold out online, but you may get lucky if you visit a Target store.

Unmasked Street Date: 2022-02-23
MSRP: $20
Price I Paid: $20
Scale: 7-inch (or 1/10)

It looks like Walmart.com got a jump on everyone else and is now shipping the Unmasked version.

----------

Masked Batwoman Beyond was released as part of a Target Exclusive Jokerbot Build-a-Figure (BAF) wave. (These figures were based on designs from a comic book series, not the TV show.) She came with wide open hands that resemble claws, "trigger" finger hands, and the Batman Beyond-style batarangs we saw in the TV show.

McFarlane has been releasing alternate/unmasked versions of the Batman Beyond figures that are available retail-wide. Batman Beyond Terry McGinnis changed the least, with a different mouth area. Shriek was fully unmasked, as is Batwoman Beyond. Blight will be getting a "Meltdown" (flames on the glass dome) version soon.

Batwoman Beyond is Elainna Grayson, Dick Grayson's daughter. (In this potential future timeline, Barbara Gordon is not her mother.) She does not have red/ginger hair, so the long hair on the Masked version is part of her disguise.

In Masked Batwoman's tray, there's one main plastic tie around her torso and several thinner plastic ties around her wrists, right ankle, and batarangs. In addition to an information card and a base stand, she comes with two batarangs and two "trigger finger" hands. The long red hair and wings are fitted through slots in the plastic tray.

In Unmasked Batwoman's tray, there's one main plastic tie around her torso and several thinner plastic ties around her calves and jet flames. In addition to an information card and a base stand, she comes with one bat-shaped batarang, two "trigger finger" hands, and jet flames. No parts were pushed through slots in the plastic tray.

Both figures stand right about 7-inches tall to the top of the head. The Masked version's ears go up to about 7.25 inches. This is gonna annoy some of you -- both heads pop off with ease, similar to the heads for White Knight Joker. The accessories are fully interchangeable between both versions.

Unmasked Batwoman Beyond has fists instead of the claw-like hands. She comes with the same alternate "trigger finger" hands as the Masked version. The batarang is different, though it's probably more "throwable" than the TV-show version (which I've always thought looked more like a melee weapon). She also has jet flames that can attach to the bottoms of her feet, though unlike the retail-wide version of Batman Beyond, she does not have a flight stand. You'll have to borrow one from another DC Multiverse figure or get one from another company.

In terms of articulation, you can rotate the heads and upper torsos 360 degrees, but be careful to avoid ripping the "tail" of the chest symbol. I could rotate the Unmasked version's lower torso, but the Masked version's lower torso seems pretty stuck in place. Elainna Grayson can't really do decent leg splits, even with the wings out of the way. The wings have slits in them so that you can attach them to pegs in the arms, though this design choice wasn't really necessary. The swivels for the wings are tight enough so that the wings don't fall down once they're in an "open" position. McFarlane should've made the wings removable pieces so that people can create dynamic poses.

I like that the Unmasked version comes with different accessories, though I imagine most collectors will end up using the jet flames with the Masked version if they have both. The Unmasked head is really quite pretty, and I've already seen people posting about using it for custom Cassandra Cain figures.

Areas of concern:
-- Be careful to avoid damaging the chest symbol when posing the figures.
-- At the very least, the Unmasked version should've come with a flight stand.
-- The wings should've been designed to be easily removable, not requiring hot water or a blow dryer.
-- The Unmasked version was an opportunity to give Elainna Grayson blue instead of red highlights.
