Hasbro is creating scarcity and in general absolutely fucking up the way lines are managed. And what is this "specialized" you speak of?
McFarlane is an action figure company, it's all that they really make, and it all comes from like one factory. They're small but mighty. That's how it's easier for them, or should be, they don't have a million different things to worry about like Hasbro. But they still have had a lot of distribution issues over the past few years, although they've straightened it out and gotten a lot better.

What issues has Mattel had? Hot Wheels? Not according to my HW collector buddies. MOTU. Nope. WWE? nuh-uh. Jurassic World? Hell no. Pixar? Lightyear?
Hot Wheels yes, the die-cast car aisle was freakin' barren until very recently. MOTU also is far from ever being problem free, first it was poor distribution then it became overstock not moving. Don't follow WWE personally so I can't speak to that. Jurassic World and Lightyear only just hit shelves last month and could be planned around street dates, so they shouldn't be effected by the same issues.
