I’m only speculating here, but Storm focuses mainly on OG Mortal Kombat. McFarlane seems to be doing the current looks. By doing the alternate outfits from Mortal Kombat 11, it kind of still fits the “Klassic” scope because that is indeed what these outfits are in the MK 11 game (klassic outfits).

It’s basically another revenue stream under the classic license without actually having to do a whole lot of new tooling or straight up rereleasing an older figure.
