Well for one he's not very imposing. People call him buff, but he could use a few pounds, and that big necklace is a nice cultural addition but all it does make him look downright puny. I get that they were trying to get away from Momoa comparisons, but they went too far. Between his smaller physique and that odd facial hair this guy looks less ticked off Superhero King of Atlantis that would and more like he'd be at home playing the nice guy hanging out at a bar on South Beach brought to you by the casting director of Grey's Anatomy.

And no, the MCU doesn't aim for strict comic accuracy, but sometimes that results in a "miss", and so far this is a "miss".

However, that said, Tenoch is far, far too puny to be Namor. He's 5'8", maybe, and before comparisons are made to photos from the cast lined up on stage at SDCC, Hollywood is all about artifice. It's taken years for people to realize Tom Cruise is 5'6" and people still don't seem to understand that RDJ might only be an inch or two taller than that.

As was mentioned, acting chops can go a long way toward adding presence and gravitas, And as someone that takes photos, angles and perspectives can also create illusions. All this without even touching the lifts and platforms used to provide greater stature to shorter actors.

But beyond any of that, calling Tenoch 'buffed', is hyperbole at its finest. Anyone that believes this dude is diesel doesn't know what diesel is. His musculature is soft and lacks definition, he has almost no shoulders, and the promotional photos seem to sport a ceremonial outfit that obscures tiny undefined arms. (dude has zero triceps haha!) It's almost as though the trainer just had him do abs and back and called it a day. (and those back workouts didn't seem to yield much growth; off putting for a character known for swimming...tennis star, possibly)

I'll grant that there are many interpretations for Namor, and I'm certain there is a lot of confusion out there. But the character, while not Thor, or Hercules, has consistently been drawn with thick arms and legs, and shoulders and traps sculpted out of granite. Tenoch simply cannot pass for 6'2" and nearly three hundred pounds of corded muscle.

But, maybe he's a phenomenal actor, Oscar worthy even.
Exactly, I hope once he's on screen he'll win everyone over. But so far (water pun not intentional) I'm not holding my breath with this film surpassing the first Black Panther movie.
